If you're a food who likes good music then you need to chill at the Mayors Garden in Alexandra Park in Pietermaritzburg where the Chilla Nathi Cookout Experience is happening

The phrase “Chilla Nathi” is a slang word which means “relax with us” and that's exactly what the organisers want you to do.

Founded by Ndumiso Mthethwa, Sbonga Shelembe, Shaun Makhanya and Sbusiso Ngobese, this event has a mouth watering food market which allows visitors to engage with chefs and showcases an array of local culinary talent.

Shelembe says Chilla Nathi aims to be the ultimate family outdoor experience bursting with good food, art, wine and craft beer and of course mixed with good music.

Over the years Chilla Nathi evolved into a quarterly event but with growing demand, particularly from the vendors — they were prompted to host it on a monthly basis.

The event is just a year old but has been hosted six times.
